Since the theme of today is airing your imperfections - here we go:
And that’s all I’m willing to talk about publicly.
This sweater wants to come home and live with me. Unfortunately, I want to not spend $85 on a linen sweater.
It took an extraordinary amount of energy just to get out of bed this morning, much less to put on workout gear.
My morning mantra: you never regret a workout, you never regret a workout, you never regret a workout.
It reminded me of a morning prayer my father used to recite when he went on his morning runs and attempted to tackle the daunting hill back up to our house.
My father’s running prayer: Oh God. Oh my God. Oh God.
Background: I’ve been away all month, working in St. Louis, while Mark was in KC, attending dental school classes.
Since we’re both away from each other (i.e. we both have no one to hang out with after work/class) we’ve been working out, about an hour every day.
Mark’s lost 8 lbs, I’ve lost 2lbs (WTF is it with guys losing more weight than ladies?).
In addition to working out we’ve both been eating better and snacking less. Me, because I don’t want to buy a bunch of snacks to stash in my hotel room or office. Mark, because he’s doing the grocery shopping while I’m gone and is pretty much living off of oatmeal and lean cuisines.
We’re back to normal next week. I’ll let you know whether we keep up the weight loss or if the proximity of one’s spouse actually does make you fat.
Lizard (v) - to bask in the sun, soaking up the rays, not giving a fuck. Usually occurring near a body of water.
Self defined and pretty much how I prefer to spend my summer free time. And it’s not about sun-tanning because I’ll slather on the 100+ SPF - I just enjoy the intense heat. The sweet hot prickle of the sun on my skin, the almost oppressive heat radiating around me like a cocoon - I love it.
Debut of the bubble necklace and my last week in St. Louis for awhile.
Also, sporting a dress with pockets AND my fave summer-time heels. I am going to kick today’s butt.
New scarf love.
$18 from Ann Taylor yesterday - 40% off all sale items.
I got total crap from Mark about buying *another* scarf (the man thinks I own too many i.e. <10) but after a quick convo about how awesome it was and the great price, we ended up in a simple mars and venus resolution and I got the scarf. Closing remark from Mark:
Girls are weird.

My contact has a tear in it and don’t have a backup lens or backup glasses. To compensate for the uncomfortable piece of plastic in my eye I keep opening and closing that eye to readjust the lens.
I’m afraid my frequent winking is sending mixed signals.
It’s Wednesday morning and I am nothing but black and sequins. I’m mentally preparing myself for what might be a rough day.
Game face.
