Today’s outfit and a feelings dump.
My work team is hiring a new person and I am feeling feelings about it.
It’s one more person in the office with my team (that I don’t see but once every 6 weeks - see: work from home) AND this person is being hired to take care of the stuff that is eating up my time in the day. Basically, they will make my life easier by taking some tasks off my plate, freeing me up for other more fun things.
I should be thrilled but suddenly feel like my job is in danger, it’s not, but I feel anxious about letting go of the mind-numbing tasks that, in some weird way, make me feel useful/needed. Or…maybe I’m afraid to really take the reins and take on the extra responsibility that goes with the projects I was given as a result of a promotion I got a couple months ago.
Has anyone else gone through this? How did you keep yourself from getting competitive with your new coworker?
